Maurizio Sarpi

Italian and European Patent and Trademark Attorney, admitted to practice before the Italian Patent Office (UIBM), the San Marino Patent Office (USBM) and the European Patent Office (EPO) as well as WIPO and European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO, former OHIM).

Mr. Sarpi is the Managing Partner of STUDIO FERRARIO SRL, with over 40 years of experience in the Patent and Trademark practice. After his studies in Chemical Engineering at University “La Sapienza” of Rome Maurizio began his activity in the I.P. field in the IP boutique of his grandfather Artemio Ferrario, founded in 1944, providing counseling to domestic and foreign clients in a wide range of industrial sectors, including chemistry, petro-chemical and chemical processes and plants, food, energy and pharmaceuticals, recently extended to life science, biotechnology and genetic engineering. He provides extensive consultancy and expertise in the patentability fields and Freedom to Operate.

Antonio Fezzardi

After his degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the Politecnico of Milano in 1992, Antonio began his career in the area of Intellectual Property and has been active in private practice since 1994. Antonio activity is mainly directed to drafting and prosecuting Italian, PCT and European patent applications and client strategic counseling for Italy and foreign Countries. Furthermore he has acquired experience in litigation practice as technical expert both for clients and Courts. Antonio’s main areas of expertise include mechanical,. automotive, aeronautical, hydraulic and railway engineering and electronic.
Antonio is a Partner of STUDIO FERRARIO SRL.

He has also wide experience in the Trademark practice for managing clients’ portfolio.

Since 1991, even before graduating in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florence, Antonio begun to deal with industrial property, first as a trainee at the Patent Law Firm “Studio Martini” in Florence then, once graduated, as a consultant within some of the  leading Italian Intellectual Property Law Firms based in Rome, Florence, Milan and Bologna. Over the years Antonio become very experienced with the various procedural and technical aspects of the protection of patents and trademarks, in the interest of both Italian and foreign companies and clients.

He is qualified as Italian Industrial Property Consultant, as Agent before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO, former OHIM), and as a European Patent Attorney.

Maria Antonietta graduated as Legal and Technical Translator in English and German languages (B.Sc.) at Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori (SSML Istituto Universitario Carlo Bo) in Milan, Italy. She then pursued her studies and trained in I.P. firms in U.S.A., U.K. and Germany. Since 1996 she is Italian Trademark Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney. She deals with the many procedural trademark matters before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office, EUIPO and WIPO and coordinates trademarks protection for many domestic clients managing their international and foreign portfolio and counseling about the different strategies of protection abroad.

Through the firm, Maria Antonietta is associated to INTA and regularly attends INTA meetings to develop and strengthen business relations with foreign clients and associates.

Paola Scionti

Paola, after graduating in foreign languages and tourism related sciences in Rome (Italy) and Cheltenham (U.K.), joins Studio Ferrario in 1987, working in the foreign department starting as a trainee in the trademark field. After becoming Italian and European trademark and design attorney in 1996, Paola continues to practice in the trademark and design department especially focusing on foreign clients’ portfolios.
Since the ‘90s, she acquired an extensive experience in handling EP and PCT applications and patent applications elsewhere both for Italian and foreign clients.
Furthermore, Paola assists clients in the licensing and transfer issues both for patents and trademarks.

Through the firm, Paola is associated to INTA and regularly attends INTA meetings to develop and strengthen networking with foreign clients and associates.

Francesca Manieri

In 1981, Paola started working in the Trademarks department of an IP Consulting firm in Milan. Since 2006 she has been part of Studio Ferrario branch office in Milan, and she autonomously works in the field of Italian, European Union and International trademarks; as well as trademark searches related to filing applications in Italy and abroad. Her activity also involved the examining procedure from filing up to registration, as well as trademark watching and web watching.

Furthermore, she developed skills in the acquisition and management of new customers.

She obtained her Law Degree at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid having spent the last two years at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, as part of the Erasmus-Socrates Scholarship. She has also obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Law at the Garrigues Center of Madrid.

Previous experiences with leading Italian and international Law Firms specialized in Industrial and Intellectual law. Laura has now began her collaboration with Studio Ferrario providing legal assistance (judicial and extrajudicial) to domestic and foreign customers, in application of current National, EU and International regulations, in the field of trademarks, trade names, domain names, unfair competition and customs assistance and counseling.

Laura mainly deals with opposition, invalidity and revocation proceedings before EUIPO, the Italian Patent and Trademark Office and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, replies to objections and refusals of protection, consultancy on name registrability, opinions on availability searches, negotiations between the parties, drafting of coexistence and license agreements and assignments.
